Description:

The Brisbane Independent Games Festival is a showcase of independent gaming here in Brisbane that brings together a whole variety of game related events including conferences, exhibitions and competitions. Being a new event, they needed needed a logo and a website. Because the festival is a primarily an umbrella event, the website served primarily as a central location from which visitors would be able to locate related activities. In line with this, the site consists of the main page, giving an overview of all the activities and the schedule page. I decided to build the site with WordPress because for reasons of extensibility and because it can easily be kitted out with a variety of plugins that can be used to propogate the sites across a variety of sites via tools like ping.fm.

Software Skills:

Illustrator, Photoshop, WordPress, jQuery

Role:

Logo Design Queensland (of which Brisbane is capital) is known as the "Sunshine State", and home to some of the most beautiful beaches in Australia. The logo is supposed to reflect that with its colors. There is also the element of fun and informality that is often associated with independent gaming reflected by the playful use of uneven "sunbeams" emanating from behind the words BIG. Website Design The site is structed to be browsed very quickly and easily, because individual events have their own website. I've also set up a twitter account linked to the site so that updates can be quickly broadcast to people who do not want to subscribe via RSS.
